Celebrity News:
Barbara Walters says she has had it with celebrities. The quasi newswoman slash celebrity then name s celebrity as her most fascinating person for 2007. "I am not going after the tabloid stuff, I don't do it," Walters says in an interview with Reuters. Though Spears and Hilton have both had a heck of a year, Walters says she didn't consider either for her special.
She instead plunked out what could have easily been the most boring list ever. She gave anti-American Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez some love, radio host Don Imus, "Harry Potter" creator J.K. Rowling, former President Bill Clinton, "Dreamgirls" star Jennifer Hudson, and David and Victoria Beckham.
No wonder absolutely no one takes Walters serious as a journalist. A bunch of celebrities were chosen plus a free campaign commercial for Hillary Clinton by using her husband and Chavez. Ugh. When called a hypocrite, for doing things like hiring celebs like Rosie O'Donnell to boost the ratings for her morning show "The View" Babs says she doesn't regret helping to create the genre of "personality journalism."
Babas also exploited Paris Hilton's jail stay with an "exclusive' phone interviews with her. But she added that she just doesn't want to compete with numerous outlets now devoted to it. "We began to do more and more celebrities and we were criticized," she says. "And now ... every program does it." Somehow I doubt the criticism stops.
